How Kurti are you?

Hello Fashion world!

First, duly a million apologies for having disappeared the ramp of catwalk for a while. Unbelievably my girls keep more busy than the amount of energy created in me all day. Needless to say that among changing diapers,  being splattered in baby food and taking trips to school, I have had absolutely no time to update my fashion thoughts daily. But now that I'm in control of my my motherhood (I think), I am well back to the two things I love most, fashion and writing.

And back at perfect time too, just as the lawn season is back with a bang this year. Though not as explosively as expected from previous years. What with the kurtis taking off the summer heat with soft malai lawns in attractive colours, since last year. Thou they started off pretty simple with button pattis and sherwani collars, they have evolved quite fashionably over the months. Here are couple of pictures i could grab off the internet to give some ideas to all those perplexed fashionistas.

Starting with my favourite store for kurtis, FNKAsia. Not just a store, more of a diamond factory that spurts out valuable creations that cannot be found anywhere else on earth. I must say, Amir Adnan is definitely a winner where clothes are concerned. He has excelled in men's And women's wear. Rare talent that is.

What i find interesting in his casuals are the unique and daring styles. Not everyone can pull it off. Specially the daring colour combinations and ultra-modern styles. And the trendy dhaka pajamas puts the 't' in perfect.

The button patti on the first one has always held a soft soft in a special corner of my heart. Brings the funk in stylish. Combined with multi colored dhaka and a crushed dupatta. A definite winner it is.

The second one is more of a party wear, with work on the kurti and crushed pajama. Very stylish,

Some other designs i have come across on the streets. Good for a day out shopping or a friday brunch. But bolder colors would have been better. The first one is always is comfortable enough with golden button and the soldier look, without looking to serious. The second one looks way better in the colour black and a more fancier patch.

This one really caught my eye. What can I say, I'm a sucker for white. Casual, pure and beautiful. Wear it to the bazaars, or to your anniversary. Will definitely attract appreciative glances anywhere you go. An all-rounder it is.

That's it for the first day back, my fingers are tiring already with my informative resources already exhausted. Will be back with more about the lawns this season....soon.

Keep waiting, but i'll be back. Promise.

Spring for lawn!

So We've been hit by the lawn season as hard as ever! Lawn, lawn, lawn everywhere. Billboards covering every inch of space, advertising exhibitions to show off their year's worth of work. I wouldn't say im not jumping off my seat with the excitement of grabbing the best ones this summer. With the heat waves as strong as ever, those soft lawns would do a whole world of good to cool off a bit.

Asim Jofa has been the biggest hit this season. Yet. To be honest, never heard of the guy before. But his catalouged designs bought a huge amount of fans searching out his creations at every store. But guess what, they are running out of stock already! Like last week, i got my sight stuck on a amazing Jofa design and decided to loot it out in Portia Fabrics. A place where you get each and every designer, come late or early. I was plain shocked to see the number of women already flocked to the Jofa counter going through cloth like grains of rice. Afcourse they were already out of half of the stock, but fortunately i got my targeted number after a bit of a struggle with budging a few ladies off the counter where they seemed to be stuck with
something stronger then glue. Must be desperation. Hmph. The counter guy was confused as hell. All you could see was budles of colors everywhere with a few of embroideries peaking out from the corners. The guy kept running back and forth, bringing bags out to meet the customers increasing demands. But
all he kept saying was "You're too late!". Guess that's why exhibitons are becoming increasingly popular. Get them before they run out! *rolls eyes*

Then bumping along the aisles (again into more and more ladies who seem to be literally screaming with excitement which is plain scary if not shocking), i came across V-line by Vaneeza. Now let me tell you something. I think Vaneeza is sexy. Not just sexy in looks, but i love the way she treats her beauty. She doesnt believe in face surgery for perfection, putting on every makeup product in the world to look pasty white or have the reddest lips. Nooo. She enhances her natural beauty and plays around with being funky and beautiful at the same time. I love the way puts hers accessories together with her designs. So i went through her collections and wouldnt say was blown away. but at least they met my expectations of what she could come up with. A few rom Etro and Spiral, and on my way out from the mad house.

Here are some of my favs from Jofa and V-line. Check it out!

Make-up essentials on the go

Dont you just love vacations! To get away from your kill-me-of-boredom and work-work-till-you-die routine, and do something new and exciting for a change. Like Skydiving in Dubai!(NOT farfetched). Or a day of shop-till-you-drop at the best bargain stores. Or maybe trotting off for complete relaxation and pampering at an expensive spa. Sigh...the dreams just dont stop. Specially if you are on your feet all day long!

So, while packing up for my soon trip-to-be, i go through my list of 'Stuff to pack'. Note: I love making lists. Specially on of those spiral notepads that look cute and serious at the same time. And pink just puts you in the right mood. Pretending to be Elle Woods on one of her missions, I give a skeptic, wide eagle sweep over my already packed stuff. Clothes, tick. Accessories case, tick. Shoes, tick. Personal products, tick. Carry case for travel, *blank*. O man, the hardest part of any trip. What to carry in my travelling bag?! What to leave and what to add. A long list of 'yes/no's. I mean i cant exactly drag my huge leather makeup case with me all over the airport. That would be so not a pretty sight! So...What do we do? We tackle the situation like Jane in Tarzan. Shall we girls?
I turn to a fresh page on my pink notepad, and take a gel pen in hand, all ready for mission impossible. Sorting through my makeup box, i come up with a list:

1. Compact powder: A needed product. To puff away at those oily t-zones after a tiring trip on the plane. Look fresh as a daisy. I would recommend M.A.C compact powder or dry foundation. Works wonderfully on every skin tone and color.

2. Natural blush: Bring color to those cheeks after being ice chilled in the plane seat (is it me or is the plane air conditioner too below temperature?!) Brush on to thos cheeks and touch up slightly on the face. Revlon has a really good collection there, specially in the those tiny travel compacts.

3. Lip gloss: Isnt this the most obvious thing? Cant go on without retouching those rosy lips can we? Choose a color that is light and gives life to those kissers. Preferrably natural pink. Maybelline, Get your shine on!

4. Mini eau-de-perfume: Even thought you might have the most fragrant perfume on, u still need a spritz before getting off the plane. So i keep with me Paris Hilton Hieress mini. Its just so refreshing, exactly what i need.

5. Black eyeliner: That is an essential according to the current trend. Wouldn't leave the house without it. Make sure your eyeliner stays in line since they tend to smudge with time. Avon glimmerstick works good enough.

6. Cotton pads/facial wipes: Keep a small pack in case of emergencies. Or to dab at the runaway eyeliner beneath those eyes. Any good brand works for that.

7. Brush: A tiny travel brush is a needed. Messy hair is such a turn off to your recievers, and trust me they wont settle no matter how much you try with ur palm. So just brush out the tangles and let those tresses shine.

8. Compact mirror: If you dont already have one in your blush or compact powder case, i suggest you get one quick. It is probably the most important thing in your travel bag, because without the mirror you cant apply anything.

Yup, Thats pretty much it. I got myself a nice and good collection for my travel bag. Atleast i wont have to worry about any makeup emergencies when travelling. Look good, feel good. Confidence in beauty is what it is all about. Strutt down airport hallways in those high heels with no worries, cause you got it all in that bad swinging on ur arm. So...kiss & make-up! *winks*

Fall Beauty - Advice on how to hip your wardrobe for the coming season

The end of summer brings not only shedding of colorful leaves, but also a chill in the air that makes you want to put on longer skirts and higher boots. Gone are the hot summers of light tshirts and jeans. Its time for some leather and fur to be introduced to your wardrobe. Yes girls, its time to put away those summer minis and add on some fall wear.

It comes very beautiful around this time of the year, as the hot and humid air cools down to more bearable of temperatures. And as the parks and pavements outside become more crowded with people looking for fresher air than their home air conditioners. Ah..wudnt you just love to put on something fashionable and have the females give you those dirty looks. So ask me, What do we have in-style this fall?

1. Leather: Skirts, Boots, Handbags. Sport them all. Mostly browns and Offwhites are the colors to grab, other earthish colors like dull greens and oranges wud also bring out the feminine taste. Try not to go for tight fitting as loose is the word this season. Accentuate those curves with some soft leather flowing down in waves.

2. Ankle boots: Nothing like those beauties to show off those delicate legs as u bunch them with jean capris or long skirts. Fringes would bring out your love for the west. Oh...and pointers would do absolute justice to those highheeled kittens.

3. Long skirts: They are back dahlings! The 80s is reinvented as those skirts are swished down the catwalks at every fashion show this fall. Wear them flowy and long, and you got yourself a gorgeous deal here. Take them in cotton, soft leather and laces.

4. High buttoned shirts: Try a collared look with some high chignons to give yourself height. They look elegant when paired with half pants, or anything for that matter. Long sleeves gives the look to kill, but never go for dark or bright colors when you decide to try it on.

5. Frills and Laces: Doll yourself up in one of those hotties. A lace dress with a board clutch is just what you need for a posh night out down at the palace. Frills gives you the ultimate feminine touch. So why not go hunting for some of those breathtakers down at the nearest mall.

That pretty much sums up the fashion statement this fall. Can’t wait to hit the stores after Eid when there will be fresher stock available. My Favorite stores to pick some sophistication and ultimate elegance are Promode and Bershka. They always give you the right colors and deals taken whatever season you go there for. Dont forget the accessories when you’re at it girls. Those long chains and big beads are still in style, and would accentuate the wear beautifully if you have the right shoes with them.

So...go on and give the fashion world a big hit in your laces and boots. And dont be surprised if you actually end up on the front page. *winks*
